aura
Your Aura is Blue

Your Personality: Your natural warmth and intuition nurtures those around you. You are accepting and always follow your heart.

You in Love: Relationships are your top priority, and this includes love. You are most happy when you are serious with someone.

Your Career: You need to help others in your job to feel satistifed. You would be a great nurse, psychologist, or counselor.
What Color Is Your Aura?

except...i thought i was not blue, i was - amber? or something
along those lines?
anyhow that was based on numerology and was the number that
indicated the person had already been all the other numbers.

bekah's purse
Tonight i did something i haven't done for probably close
to four years: i went through Bekah's purse, the purse that
was torn up, the purse that holds the last little specks
of the tissue that lived upon Bekah and upon which she
depended to be a living breathing human...anyhow. i found
a few items i felt to be of interest.

bekah's drivers license

a little angel - ain't that something?

i doubt that Bekah really felt this way about men, though she
did at the time of her death, enjoy the loving devotion of at
least four young men. In the year before her death, however, Bekah
had suffered a broken heart - her second I believe, and her worst.
I was so very proud of her though: she never forgot her own worth,
and never let it stop her from her forward moving.

bekah smoking...a tiny picture off a tiny picture that had
to be edited to protect the cohort. :) i forgive all, all, my
darling girl, if you will too - believing you do....

a fortune saved

Not from in her purse, but a picture i love a lot. Bekah's about
four years old here.

every so often i make sure her press release is still online.

Teresa del Rio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

“JUSTICE FOR MURDERED CHILDREN”
TO KICK-OFF ANTI-VIOLENCE
BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN

DATE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2006
TIME: 10AM-11AM
Location: Crenshaw & 52 street, Los Angeles (8th district)
Los Angeles: “Justice for Murdered Children” founder Lawanda Hawkins,
will unveil the first of a series of anti- violence billboards
in Los Angeles. Hawkins’ says “the foundation’s mission is
to reduce the number of homicides and unsolved homicides by
educating the public on ways to help law enforcement,
policymakers, community leaders and the criminal justice
system become more effective and responsive to the needs
of innocent homicide victims and their families.”
This first billboard is sponsored by Northrop Grumman and
features 2 young women, Lori Gonzalez, 20 years old,
murdered in 2000 and Teresa del Rio, 20 years old,
murdered in 1999, both shot to death while driving
their cars. The 2 young men, Mario Vidal Jr. Was
murdered in 2004 and Reginald Reese 18 years old,
murdered in 1995, were also victims of gun violence
on the streets of Los Angeles.

With the support of other sponsors, this billboard campaign
will continue to place more faces of innocent victims
of homicide in different locations in the county of Los Angeles.
“I want the billboards to alert the community and
make parents aware that it can happen to them”,
stated Anna del Rio, mother of murder victim,
Teresa del Rio. “parents need to take action
whether through legislation or encourage known
witnesses to unsolved crimes to come forward
with the truth and give the victims’ justice.”
“this billboard and the other billboards to come
are important because it is a visual statement
that losing a son or daughter to homicide is
life’s most horrific experience for any parent
and we must promote the end of violence in our
cities,” says del Rio. .
Lawanda Hawkins’ foundation is dedicated to assisting
mothers of murdered children during a period following
the tragedy of losing a child to homicide.
Hawkins is dedicated to educating youth on how not to
become victims of violence, and educate citizens about
criminal activities within their communities.
Hawkins says, “ families of murdered children have
lost faith in the criminal justice system, they have
been treated as a mere after thought. It is time
that these families get the support they so
desperately deserve. For them it does not
end when they bury their child; it is only
the beginning of an everlasting nightmare. If
we don’t protect our children, then who will?”

4-29-06 late entry
4-29-06 Last Day of Victims of Violent Crime Week

Went to Sacramento Monday - Bekah's portait overwhelming.
Taps and Amazing Grace as well. Hugs spontaneous heartfelt -
the square in front of the capitol teeming with homicide
survivors.

The cries for justice coming from every corner. A few of the
stories shared with me that day:

- The young kids whose 3-month old cousin had been beaten to
death by her faher "because she was hungry and crying." He
got five years.
- The woman whose son was stabbed to death by his girlfriend's
mother. She got 26 years to life.
- I met and hugged Jean
O'Hara,
my idol and role model as I go into the CYA to give
victim impact classes to youthful offenders. She's been doing it for years.
She and her husband discovered the gruesomely murdered bodies of her
daughter, grandson, and her daughter's boyfriend.
- I met Chandra Levy's mother. She declined to share with me what she suspects/believes
regarding the disappearance and murder of her daughter. Clearly though
she is still trying to get to the bottom of it. She circulated purple sheets
of paper asking that all families of murder victims take up and display
purple ribbons for the rest of this year. I haven't done it yet, but I yet
may.
- i miss you candi...this girl caught my eye. when i approached her mother to make sure it
was okay to take a picture of her, i learned that her sister Candi had
been killed by a drunk driver who threw her 100 feet through the air, and
did one year total for the crime.

there's more - but it'll have to wait...
the kids whose moms and in one case a sister were part of the group
I was with:

debra's Victor

LaWanda's Reggie

Rhoma's Paul Jr

Shay's brother Erick

Carla's Carl

anna's Teresa

Belinda's Christopher
