Welcome to the Million Mom March
carl's mother just got to DC in the wee hours this morning.

she'll be there, and i'll be with her in my heart.

------

andy left the navy
today, approximately two and 1/2 years early.
My son was given an "other than honorable" discharge
because about a month or so ago,
he pissed pot.
Which reminded me of his recruitment. he failed the pee test the first
time he tested for the navy. but andy tested so
well on the aptitude test
the recruiter simply advised him to lay off the pot
for a week, drink a gallon of water a day, and
return after seven days.

i can't recall exactly why, but his recruiter
went the extra step
before andy's induction, buying andy a product - not necessarily that product [i just wanted to link
to one] to ingest in order to be extra extra
sure that he did not have marijuana in his system.

after andy passed the drug test and was on his way to being
inducted into one
of the two branches of the military which enforce a
"zero tolerance" drug policy,
his recruiter advised
him that if he was asked while in the navy whether he had
ever experimented, used, been around, abused, any illicit
substance [pot being apparently grouped with all others,
whereas alcohol use and abuse is essentially,
in my opinion, condoned], he should just lie.

the man told my son to lie. just lie. well, andy's piss did not lie.

he lost a $40,000 scholarship, which sucks. he fucked up and
must face the consequences and that's a bitch for sure. he also
has been opted out of the opportunity to become one of
the
faces on this page,
and for that - selfish mother that i am! -
i am up to here with joy. actual joy.

my boy's coming home. pray, please if you do, that he comes
home safely, because he's driving alone from VA all the way
across the country. amen
